A short story

In the begining there were some copper wire, a crystal diode, a filter capacitor,
headphones and a great joy when the local MW broadcaster was heard.
Then there was finding a proper tap on an air coil and a rotary variable air capacitor,
tuning for some other AM signals. There was also a simple question like:
"What is the signal frequency and strength?"
