JVC EEPROM Manager

    The JVC EEPROM Manager 2.0 for JVC/Thomson miniDV cameras is a program that supports DV-in enabling/disabling the models listed bellow as working but it might work others. It works by changing a bit on the camera's EEPROM so, if your model isn't supported by the Enable/Disable button you can enable DV-in if you know what bit needs to be changed.
    The program is also able to read and write ANY byte of the EEPROM on any JLIP compatible camera and that is the reason I named it "JVC EEPROM Manager".
    Among other features JVCEM only takes 50Kb of disk space and it can save and load the contents of the EEPROM to and from a file.

    Writing of memory values should be used with care because it can be dangerous (You might think your camera needs a service repair)

    NOTE: Thomson VMD2 and VMD3 are equivalente to JVC DVL20 and DVL40 respectively

JLIP Debugger

    Soon I will put here a program to send JLIP commands to ANY JLIP (or JLIP compatible) device. This program will allow you to have low level access to JLIP (or JLIP compatible) device.

Compatibility list (for DV-in enabling with JVCEM)

   The JVC miniDV models that are confirmed to be supported are:
    - GR-DVL20, GR-DVL30, GR-DVL40, GR-DVL108EG, GR-DVL100E, GR-DVL200E, GR-DVL300, GR-DVL9200E, GR-DVL9500E, GR-DVL9700E, GR-DVX4, GR-DVX7, GR-DVX8, GR-DVX9.
   The confirmed Thomson miniDV models are:
    - VMD2, VMD3 (confirmed).

   The addicional JVC/Thomson miniDV models that may be supported are:
    - JVC GR-DVL308E.
    - Thomson VMD8.

Incompatibility list (for DV-in enabling with JVCEM)

    At the moment it is not to be possible to enable DV-in on JVC GR-DVL9000, GR-DV3 and GR-DVM5. It is also not possible (yet) to enable DV-in on some cameras (probably more recent) of already supported models

    The following models CAN'T be DV-in enabled at all:
    - GR-DVXEG (The docking station is only a capture box).

    Specifically for the GR-DVL100E (and equivalent ones) here is a small EEPROM map of functions.

We need your help

    If you want your JVC camera to be supported and you know what bit in the EEPROM has to be changed please send that information to me. If you can't help this much, at least you could send the dump of your camera's memory with the model number, the camera's DV-in state (enabled or disabled) and the Machine Code.

    If you think the interface is too simple and have any idea for a bitmap, send me an image with your sugestion.

    By comparing features of different models i hve notices that some JVC models have certain features disabled. If these features can be enabled by EEPROM manipulation i need dumps of camera models from ALL OVER the world. By comparing these EEPROM dumps I may be able to enable (and disable) some of these features.
    Examples of features that are, or might be, enabled by EEPROM changes:
    - DV-in,
    - AV/S-Video input (analog),
    - Maximum digital ZOOM,
    - PAL/NTSC selection,
    - IR interface,
    - Inverse video,
    - CCD sensitivity,
    - etc...
