VK7UM - S57RA / 16.386km contact with only 60cm antenna

After some effort - moving air-gun and extending tx waveguide, rx and controll lines, we managed to make a contact on 10GHz with Rex - VK7MO from Hobart/Tasmania. We repeated the contact the day after with smaller antenna and less power on his side.

First day Rex used 120cm antenna and 90w and day later only 60cm antenna and 50W. Equiment on my side was 3m dish, abt 150w at feed, 0.8dB preamp, kuhne 3cm transverter,  and my low-cost SDR with  RedPitaya and PowerSDR radio.

Distance between stations (jn75ap in qe36wv) is 16386.66Km.

The radio and PA were developed at EIUS d.o.o.

Echoes from the moon on 10GHz

Autumn 2017, new 10GHz setup, 400W power amplifier, SDR RedPitaya radio, 1.4dB preamp. See more photos or listen to the Moon echoes in the Video...

European amateur radio astronomers meeting EUCARA

Stockert 25m Radio Telescope

European Conference on Amateur Radio Astronomy (EUCARA) with the team at the Astropeiler Stockert Radio Telescope hosted a conference for amateurs active in radio astronomy in Europe. The intention was to bring people together to exchange ideas and experiences.

WMarko S57UUU and me presented a paper about the SIDI project, available in pdf here.

We were provided the opportunity to do some hands on observations with 25m dish such as real-time pulsar observations

Participants from several countries had many interesting contributions, with the great presentation of the keynote speaker mrs Dr. Silke Britzen about latest research in area of Black holes.

SIDI projects has been presented with a big interest of participants to help in growing the possible network of receiving stations.

More pictures from the site and visit to the Effelsberg 100m dish can be seen here.

Solar radio burst

Strong solar radio burst recorded by SIDI

May, 24.th

Solar event

On  2014 Apr 02 1341 UTC, burst has been identified by SIDI, with antennas pointing 40° from the Sun.

The event was discovered when we were testing Marko's (s57uuu) SIDI fringe DSP searching tool, and the image was saturated at some point. The event is visible on DSP 24hr recording, with time on Y and fringe frequency on X (horizontal) axis.

Information about  the SUM10R  event is available here.

Nasa released video on this event.

SIDI detailed recording is available here.
