Subject: Checksum calculator for Sony D8 SE.. Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2001 12:14:16 +0200 From: "rob.ruppert" Martin, Mijo, John, Searching many sites, I wasn't able to find a proper calculator for Sony D8 SE camcorders to permanently enable DV-IN. Examining Dumps, and checking my own TVR320E, I am confident the checksum on these second edition camera's is calculated as a straight XOR of bytes 14 to 30 in page D, and saved in byte F0 on page 2. (and in byte F1 on this page?) Byte F1 on page 2, seems to be either 4 or 7, depending on if DV-IN is enabled or not, but I have not been able to actually calculate it. I have used Martin's spreadsheet for first edition cameras, and modified it to calculate a checksum for D8-SE camera's. With my limited experience with this (a few days since I started looking into this), I could have missed something, but I haven't found a dump yet, where the checksum did not match. I don't have a web page to publish this, but if you believe this is useful, please use it as you like.
